Clash Royale - 2023 Christmas short
”Naughty vs. Nice”
We wrote and directed the official Christmas film of 2023 for Clash Royale.
Supercell asked us to use the theme of ‘Naughty vs. Nice’, showing the established characters teasing each other in silly ways, while also introducing the new version of the Ice Spirit.
The film was designed for a vertical social media screen, forcing us to approach the visual storytelling in a different, but exciting, way.
With Sun Creature Studio we developed a brand new, original 2D look for a new series of cinematic films, inspired by anime, classic comics and Clash Royale’s own 3D films.
We produced 10 different films as overlapping projects, writing and directing 3-4 films at a time.
The films were hugely successful across all SoMe-platforms, with several of them going viral, and praised by the many loyal (and very detail-oriented) fans. Supercell also praised the films for inspiring them in the development of their characters and the expanding lore of the game.
